Silicon photovoltaic modules comprise ~90% of the photovoltaic modules manufactured and sold worldwide. This online textbook provides an introduction to the technology used to manufacture screen-printed silicon solar cells and important manufacturing concepts such as device design, yield, throughput, process optimization, reliability, in-line quality control and fault diagnosis. This online textbook can be used as a stand-alone reference work for PV manufacturing.
At UNSW Sydney we use this online textbook together with PV Lighthouse’s SunSolve to educate our students about the manufacturing of silicon wafer solar cells.
